2009 Dodge Avenger
Model strengths:
Fuel efficiency; standout exterior styling; innovative interior features; lifetime powertrain warranty.
Model changes:
Following its introduction in 2008, the Dodge Avenger receives few changes for 2009. For starters, the lineup shrinks, as the base SE has been dropped, leaving only the SXT and R/T models. The availability of all-wheel drive has also been dropped.
Extra noise-reducing materials have been added to the Avenger, and SXT and R/T models now feature anti-lock brakes, a rear spoiler, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and fog lamps as standard equipment. The R/T also adds 18-inch chrome wheels and various interior convenience items to its list of standards.
Model value:
The 2009 Dodge Avenger is a smart, boldly styled mid-size competitor to the Chevy Malibu, Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry. The Avenger has expanded standard-feature content, including side air bags, anti-lock brakes, an alarm and the innovative Chill Zone cooler system. Several options, such as the MyGig audio/navigation system and heated/cooled cup holder, also differentiate it feature-wise from other mid-size sedans.
